OOTD || BIRTHDAY DATE NIGHT

ANOTHER YEAR OLDER & NONE THE WISER

Ok, ok, it WAS my birthday... and man it was a good one. Somehow I always manage to stretch my birthday celebrations across multiple days, and this year was no exception... you only turn 25 once!

This year, the celebrations started with Flo taking me out for dinner at a trendy new restaurant in Bondi the next before the actual day. I must say, when it comes to dressing up in summer I have always struggled to find outfits that I feel truly comfortable wearing. Friday came around and just my luck, it was a scorcher. It was hot, it was humid, it was muggy and I had no idea what to wear. I wanted something that I felt confident in, was light on the body and covered the food baby that was sure to come.

During the warmer months, I tend to steer clear of any figure hugging outfits. It it's a hot day, the last thing that I want is to feel as though my clothes are suffocating me - loose outfits becomre a regular in my wardrobe.

Wrap dresses have been one of the most popular dress styles so far this summer - and there's a reason why! The flowing hemlines, cinched waist and cross-over neckline is a look that is super flattering on any body.
My dream is a dress that I can just throw on, run out the door and feel confident wearing. When I find that dream dress that I love, I tend to wear it over and over again. Which is exactly what I've been doing with this satin wrap dress from Rumour Boutique. My Instagram feed is probably craving some new outfits by now...

Not only is this dress cinched with elastic around the waistline but the material tie allows you to further accentuate your figure. For my body type, this style is one of the most flattering options!

If you know me, I'm sure there is something you know... I LOVE black. I can't get enough of  it! That being said, this dress is a pleasant change from my go to colour. Khaki is a great opportunity to step away from the usual black, white and neutral shades we would normally opt for.

Recently, I've loved mixing textures and fabrics. I think that pairing a faux leather jacket, which a satin dress and sueded shoes adds a little something extra to the outfit. That said, the jacket was unfortunately left in the car as the temperatures didn't cool down in the evening as I had been hoping for!
I've styled this piece with my favourite strappy black heels from Senso. I bought them last year at the warehouse sale in Surry Hills (I love warehouse sales, but gosh they can be dangerous). Grabbing them for $80 down from $230, they very quickly became my go to black heels. Despite how they looks, they are incredibly comfortable and I know I can last all day wearing them. The heel is slightly shorter than most pairs I own, so maybe this is why I've fallen in love!

If neutrals are your style, why not try adding a pop of colour to your outfit with colourful earrings and/or a bold lip?

When it comes to lips my motto is go bold or go home. Red lipstick is definitely part of my signature style. Red lips makes me feel confident, sexy and capable of anything. Any basic outfit can be elevated by adding some elegant accessories and colour to the lip.

I tied the look together with some of my current favourite gold accessories. It was only recently that I ventured away from silver jewellery to gold and I am officially a fan! This season I've been wearing these necklaces from Topshop on repeat. They're understated, easy to wear and compliment all looks.
