Valentine's Day Gift Guide: For Her

Valentines Day, love it, or hate it, it's coming!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against Valentine's Day, but I am not a fan of basic clich├ęs; stuffed bears, love heart chocolates and over the tops gestures... no thanks. Give me roses any day of the year and I'll love you just as much. You don't need a designated day for loving your partner. I think it's much more important to focus on the little things and show your appreciation all year round.

Valentine's Day is a hard one (especially for new relationships) - to gift or not to gift.

Personally, my partner and I don't do presents (although, I am often treated to flowers), instead we put money towards an 'experience' that we can enjoy together. More often than not, our 'gift' is something as simple as a nice dinner out. I love experience presents because memories and quality time together is what I value the most. My ideal present would be something along the lines of a cooking course, or a weekend away.

That being said, I know a lot of people out there love to give gifts. If there is something that you know your partner has been longing for, Valentine's day is a good excuse to treat them. It doesn't have to be extravagant, it's the thought that counts. Some couples go out and buy extremely generous presents, whereas others choose not to even recognise the day, it comes down to who you are and what you want to do.

Guys out there, if you're struggling to come up with ideas, here's a helping hand:

Perfume

A girl can NEVER have too many perfumes. Perfume is the perfect gift because whatever you do, whatever memories you make, you will always associate it with that scent. You will rarely go wrong with a luxury perfume, Victor & Rolf eau de parfum Flowerbomb and Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris  are safe bets. Flowerbomb has been a long time favourite of mine, centred around freesia it is a a floral explosion of fresh and sweet accords. Mon Paris, new to my collection and has quickly become a go-to. This scent is a collection of white flowers anchored by wood, leaving a feminine fragrance that lasts well on the skin.

Candles

I'm an a serious lover of candles. I think they are an amazing way to create a relaxing atmosphere in any room of the house. Light a candle, grab some bubbly, run a bath and enjoy the evening together. My longstanding favourite has too be the Glasshouse Montego Bay Candle in Coconut Lime

Lingerie

Some like lingerie as a gift, some don't. Personally I love it! There's something about lingerie that just makes you feel confident and extremely sexy. Although a luxurious set of lingerie is not something that you often treat yourself with - Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse.

Alcohol

This is a pretty easy one... Alcohol falls slightly under the same lines as an experience gift, it's something that you can enjoy together. Can't afford to go pop over to Paris for Valentine's Day? Don't worry, grab a bottle of French Champagne and it's almost as good (it isn't... but we can pretend).

If gift giving is something you do, here's my Valentine's Day gift guide of presents that I'd love to receive (ranging from affordable to luxury):
