OOTD || The Austrian Outfit Diaries

OOTD || The Austrian Outfit Diaries

Oh hey... fancy seeing you here!

It's been a minute, I know - I'm sorry! Life has been happening and blogging has been put on the back-burner. Who knew that planning a wedding (while working full time) was somewhat time consuming. Not me...

But I'm backkkk (with a blog post I was meant to write last year)!

As some of you may know, earlier last year I was in Europe. The majority of my time away was spent skiing in France which meant I was either decked out in ski gear, or super comfy warm clothing trying to let my muscles recover. However, the rest of the time was spent in Austria, which meant I needed to slightly up my fashion game from the trackies (Aussie for track suit pants/sweat pants/joggers) and beanies I had previously been sporting.

If you've ever been to Austria you will know what I mean when I say they have some truly stunning architecture and Linz is no exception! As with many other Austrian cities, the city centre is filled with cobble stone streets and historical buildings - photo settings that I do not stumble across in Sydney - the perfect blogging opportunity!

I went over with grand plans- I couldn't wait to test out my brand new Olympus Pen E-PL9 camera and 45mm lens and shoot a whole series of blog content... but that's not exactly what happened.

You know those days when nothing goes to plan, well I had one of those. After *charging* my camera over night, heading in to town to shoot with my personal photographer (aka Flo my husband) and finding a pretty street, we were all set to go. Or so I thought...

It wasn't until we went to take that first snap and Flo was presented with the 'empty battery screen' that everything fell apart. It turns out I hadn't packed the correct charger. To say I was slightly disappointed would be an understatement. So I'm sorry guys, instead I present to you iPhone photos and only one outfit.

While the calendar said spring, the temperatures said otherwise (at least for an Australian coming across from the end of Summer). With temperatures around 5-10 degrees it was important to consider warmth without compromising on style when putting together outfits. Midi-skirts, light-weight knitwear and warm jackets were my solutions to a warm, albeit, chic outfit.

Outfit details || Skirt & Jacket - Zara // Heels - Forever New // Jumper - Kookai // Bag & Watch- Michael Kors // Necklace - Tiffany & Co

A pleated skirt that hangs below the knee is no-doubt a fashion trend you've already spotted. It's one of those pieces that's so easy to style, dress it up or dress it down and you'll look great no matter what the occasion. I have this skirt from Zara in a few different colours and it has been on high rotation in my wardrobe - whether it's for a day in the office or out for dinner at night, I always feel stylish, comfortable and confident!

While travelling through Europe, if heels are your preferred form of footwear, don't forget to opt for a chunky heel! Take a stroll through most European cities and you're likely to find cobble-stone streets, which as beautiful as they are, can be deathly to your ankles. Luckily the sky high stilettos that Sex and the City famously featured throughout the series are a thing of the past, with thicker, more comfortable heels taking their place.

I hope you have enjoyed this post. If you would like to see more fashion content from me, please leave a comment below!
